Finding Light in the Darkness
A Journey of Love and Responsibility
Our Mission
At STAR MH Foundation, Inc., our mission is to eliminate suicide among teens and youth through awareness, education, and support. We are dedicated to raising funds for suicide prevention initiatives while providing compassionate assistance to families affected by suicide loss. By fostering open conversations about mental health and offering vital resources, we aim to create a community where every individual feels valued, understood, and empowered to seek help. Together, we strive to cultivate hope, resilience, and healing for all.
STAR MH Foundation, Inc. is a lasting memory of Brandy Brooks nephew, Bryce Walker, who was only a 14-year-old teenager, took his life on September 10, 2023. She vowed to continue building awareness around a topic that we see far too much stigma around and to help other families avoid experiences that her family encountered. To help put an end to this heart-wrenching epidemic, Brandy developed STAR MH Foundation, Inc. Support Teen Awareness and Recognize Mental Health.
Not every journey is easy; for some, it may be difficult to talk about their feelings, thoughts about suicide, or how to get help. By working together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of these families and demonstrate that they are not alone in their journey towards healing and recovery.
We believe that true change begins when we confront the uncomfortable realities of suicide. Being comfortable with being uncomfortable talking about Suicide and Mental Health. We must aim to educate ourselves and recognize the warning signs, raise awareness of suicide, and include open conversation with each other so that you can make a difference and save lives. We envision a community-free of suicide that embraces the importance of quality mental health prevention.
Be the Change. Be the Light.
About Us
My name is Brandy Brooks, and I have dedicated a significant part of my life since 2020, to raising not only our own children, but also my 2 nieces and my nephew after their parents' unfortunate circumstances left them in need of care and guidance. Over the years, I've poured my heart and soul into providing them with love, support, and a nurturing environment to thrive in.

Tragically, despite our best efforts, my beloved nephew, Bryce, succumbed to the silent struggles of mental health and took his own life at the young age of fourteen on September 10, 2023. His passing shook our family to its core and left an indelible void in our hearts. In the wake of this profound loss, I've come to realize the importance of reaching out to others who may be silently battling similar demons. It's my fervent belief that no one should feel alone in their struggles, and no family should endure the pain of losing a loved one to suicide.

While this journey has been marked by both challenges and blessings, I remain committed to providing unwavering support and care to my family as we navigate through grief and healing together.

Bryce was a Freshman at Amanda-Clearcreek High School. He loved fishing, listening to music, and cooking his favorite recipes. He was very creative and artistic in all that he did. He was passionate about wrestling and was a hard worker. Bryce was a young boy filled with dreams and potential. He had a contagious smile that could light up a room and a heart that overflowed with kindness. He made a positive impact on the world around him.
Sending love and support to all those who have been impacted by the loss of a loved one to suicide. I want to encourage those who are struggling to seek professional help if they need it. I have links to organizations that offer support and resources for those affected by mental health and/or suicide loss. I want to help others going through grief and loss, to change the world and live a life of impact and purpose. Always remember, YOU MATTER.
With heartfelt sincerity,
